Updated: Oct 13

La Brioche Playa del Carmen is located on the most beautiful street in the city, 38th Street, surrounded by greenery and even next to a cenote

La Brioche Playa del Carmen. When I think of a French bakery, I imagine the irresistible aroma of freshly baked bread, the crisp croissants, and elegant pastries that look like works of art. And that's precisely what I found at La Brioche in Playa del Carmen.

Each visit to La Brioche is a unique culinary experience. Everything from homemade bread to delicate croissants and pastries is made with the love and dedication that only an authentic artisanal bakery can offer.

My favorites include the pain au chocolat, almond croissants, and fruit tarts, all made with the highest quality ingredients.

Unforgettable Breakfasts

Eggs Benedict is my favorite breakfast. It's hard to find a place in Playa del Carmen that prepares them as well as La Brioche.

A good day starts with a memorable breakfast. La Brioche knows how to deliver the best breakfast in Playa del Carmen.

This charming bakery offers various French options and understands the importance of satisfying the local crowd. That's why you'll find delicious Mexican breakfasts like authentic chilaquiles alongside their French classics.

Of course, the breakfast experience at La Brioche would only be complete with their traditional croissants and the house specialty: the exquisite brioche bread.

With a wide variety of options, from fluffy omelets to delicious quiches, each dish is designed to delight my palate. I particularly remember a light, fluffy omelet that seemed ready to fly off the plate and into my mouth.

Another favorite of mine is Benedict eggs with avocado toast and salad, a perfect combination for a balanced and tasty breakfast. Additionally, choosing organic eggs for an extra cost is simply sensational.

Breakfast Combos at La Brioche

This image shows a breakfast combo that includes green juice, an omelet, salad, cappuccino, and artisanal bread with a sauce.
Breakfasts are very popular, especially combos where you can choose from various options, including coffee, green juice, orange juice, eggs, artisanal bread, croissants, and more, all at affordable prices.

Their breakfast combos are also a popular and economical choice, providing excellent value while allowing you to enjoy a range of flavors at a great price.

  • La Brioche Combo: Freshly squeezed orange juice, green juice, hot classic drink of your choice, traditional brioche, and an omelet with 1 ingredient.

  • L'Idéal Combo: Freshly squeezed orange juice, green juice, hot classic drink of your choice, 1/4 of whole grain bread, fruit bowl, yogurt, and granola.

  • Le Mexicain Combo: Freshly squeezed orange juice, green juice, hot classic drink of your choice, traditional brioche, red chilaquiles, and Mexican-style eggs.

  • Le Continental Combo: Freshly squeezed orange juice, green juice, hot classic drink of your choice, traditional brioche, artisanal croissant, and 1/4 baguette.

For these reasons and many more, La Brioche has established itself as one of the best restaurants in Playa del Carmen to enjoy an exquisite breakfast at a very affordable price.

Affordable Artisan Baguettes and Breads

The house's artisanal bread is delicious and crispy. All the sandwiches are made with artisanal bread to ensure the quality and freshness that define La Brioche.

In addition to its popular desserts and breakfasts, La Brioche Playa del Carmen offers a delightful variety of salads and baguettes made with the house's artisanal bread.

Among the baguette options are the Parisian, with turkey ham, butter, Gouda cheese, and cornichon pickles, and the smoked salmon baguette, featuring boiled egg, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, and avocado.

La Brioche also offers vegan options, ensuring something for everyone.

The Ratatouille empanada, filled with tomato, onion, eggplant, zucchini, and bell peppers, is another exquisite choice.

The best part is that the prices generally do not exceed 200 pesos and are often considerably lower. This makes La Brioche in Playa del Carmen an affordable option for all budgets.

Although many might think the establishment is expensive just by looking at it from the outside, it is very budget-friendly and offers excellent value for money.

Coffee and Beverages to Complete the Experience

A delicious brioche bread, orange juice, a creamy cappuccino, and artisanal baguettes.
My cappuccino is always frothy and creamy, with different layers of creaminess. La Brioche consistently pays attention to quality and detail.

The coffee at La Brioche is top-notch, making it a contender for the best coffee in Playa del Carmen. My iced lattes and cappuccinos are always rich, aromatic, and beautifully presented.

A good coffee is the perfect complement to any pastry or croissant, creating an experience that satisfies not just hunger but the soul.

Cozy and Welcoming Atmosphere

This image shows the interior of La Brioche Playa del Carmen, which is not very busy, with plenty of shade and a very relaxed atmosphere.
The atmosphere is relaxed and calm, with soft music in one of the quietest areas of the city. La Brioche is surrounded by greenery and feels like an intimate place.

The atmosphere at La Brioche is as inviting as its products. With friendly and attentive staff, every visit feels like coming home.

One occasion, one of the owners offered me a free dessert as a thank-you for coming every morning. Details like these make each visit memorable.

Affordable Prices and Unmatched Quality

This image shows a display case with pastries and cakes offered at La Brioche Playa del Carmen.
The price-quality ratio is unbeatable. An artisanal sweet bread is cheaper than a pack of industrial pastries at your 7/11. Do I need to say more?

Despite its superior quality, La Brioche offers affordable prices, making it an ideal choice for locals and visitors.

For instance, a croissant costs just 32 pesos, a delicious artisanal cookie with chocolate, nuts, and citrus oats is 35, and the chocolate bread is only 40.

A slice of cake is also priced at 32 pesos. These prices are even cheaper than buying a pack of junk food at 7/11. To give you an idea, we’re talking about artisanal bread!

This combination of high quality and low prices ensures that La Brioche in Playa del Carmen is accessible to all budgets, proving that excellent taste and affordability can go hand in hand.

La Brioche Makes Your Furry Friends Feel at Home

This is a pet-friendly establishment; if you decide to visit, you will immediately notice the water bowls for street dogs or your beloved pets.

One thing that I really appreciated about La Brioche is that they are pet-friendly. The first thing that caught my attention upon arriving was the two very clean water bowls for street dogs or your pets.

Gestures like these reflect the humane qualities of the owners and are very welcoming for those who plan to visit the place with their pets.

La Brioche Playa del Carmen: Tips for a Perfect Visit

Due to their high quality and reasonable price, croissants tend to sell out quickly. We recommend arriving early to ensure you get all these French delicacies.

If you're a croissant lover like me, arrive early. Due to their popularity, these delicious treats tend to sell out quickly. And if you plan to visit during peak hours, you might need patience, as the place can get quite busy.

However, the wait is well worth it to enjoy the authentic flavors and charming atmosphere of La Brioche.

What Makes Brioche Different from Bread?

A delicious and fluffy brioche bread on a white plate.
This bread is the house specialty and the one that gives it its distinctive name. If you've ever tried a brioche bread, you know it's an irresistible treat.

If you've ever bitten into a slice of brioche, you know it's not just any bread. Here's what sets this luxurious, buttery delight apart from your everyday loaf:

Rich Ingredients: Brioche is crafted with a decadent mix of eggs, butter, milk, and sometimes sugar.

This combination creates an incredibly soft, rich, and sweet bread, distinguishing it from the more straightforward ingredients used in regular bread, which typically consists of flour, water, yeast, and salt.

So, next time you enjoy a slice of brioche, remember it's not just bread. This delicious buttery experience elevates any meal!
